This is a focus project and I would like to hear from everyone on what you are doing to attack the stores - if we see a territory is really not being worked - it will become a house territory for this account. Before anyone sends things out - a couple things: 1. We are changing the Illusions prices - we are adding to the base so it is a little thicker - but will have more body and still be machine washable. The costs will be increased to a $19.99 retail - I'll be sending info on this item after lunch when I speak with Charley from Mexico. But did not want anyone sending prices to wild birds unlimited before we make change - also going to try and get the case pack to 6 pcs instead of 12 2. We are not doing a Wild Birds Unlimited brochure because there are already two brochures that contain everything you need and you should send or give to WBU stores: a. The Frontporch/Capri novelty brochure - it contains all FTP and Capri patterns as well as Natura and Illusions b. Pillow brochure - for all pillows 3. What we are going to do for the house accounts is to mail out the above two brochures , cover letter explaining the program and specific price list for those products , then follow by phone/visit - I don't see another way to get the program across to franchises since we don't have emails - and calling them with out sending a package first - won't mean anything Hope to have letter and price lists to send you later today. Attached please find two store lists - one is in excel format and the other is by state in pdf format - per the franchise's request, there are no emails listed - please visit them in person or call them to obtain the email. 4. The franchises are all independent - so they buy what they want - being a recommended vendor is a plus because it shows that the product line fits into the stores merchandise format and the stores are more likely to find the product. 5. I was on the road last week and stopped into 6 stores and found: a. Each store has a core format selling bird food, feeders, bird/nature books and metal yard items like birds, compasses, etc b. Each store had slightly different giftable items - the owners say the gift category is expanding as they search for new items to show customers - some items they carry: Rugs and mats Pillows Stuffed plastic toys (mostly of animals) Kids books on animals/Nature Flags showing animals Picnic basket and accessories c. The average customer visits the store 4 - 6 times a year - this means there is a seasonal business - so we can sell Spring, Summer, Fall and Holiday patterns d. Types of patterns the stores were interested in when they went through the pictures, varied by store location - all liked the bird, garden and nature related items - but those closer to the coast and by lakes - liked many of the shore themes like the shell toss, crabs, turtles and nautical themes. The stores located in-land or in the mountains liked the lodge items - all of them liked all the pet items, in fact most of the stores had either a cat or dog in the store..and 5 of them were located right next to Pet Supply stores - so I pointed out to each owner, if they showed a FTP pet pattern in the window - I'd bet they get capture some instant business. I was able to meet with the owner(s) in 5 of the 6 stores - each gave me time to show them the various items that fit their format - FTP/Capri scatters, Coir Mats, Illusions Mats, and Pillows - all products were well received and I expect to see orders from at least 3 stores this week and will hook the others shortly. There are 4 months before the show in June - there is no reason why we can't get an order from the majority of these franchises prior to the show - in fact getting an order now would allow the store to get the items in and get some selling history under their belts so that maybe we can get two orders at the show - one for immediate shipping after the show and another for holiday items. Important to note - Liora has been working on additional bird/nature designs for the various collections and we will have an expanded offering of items that directly relate to the WBU core by Highpoint. Please note = the following:
