Content preview: Hi Niss, you are correct. You would send me the ATC form to
cancel coverage with Oxford. At that time you would give that employee the
Cobra/Continuation package. They do have 60 days to elect Cobra. We prefer
they don't wait 60 days because they would then owe you two months of premiums.
They will remain on your Oxford invoice as Cobra members, not employees.
They would send you their monthly premium and you would include their payment
on your Payment check. They would pay 100% of the monthly premium and legally
you can tack on 2% for administration purposes. Should they elect Cobra,
they would then fill out another ATC form checking the electing Cobra box.
When you have a termination or enrollment, let me know and I will talk you
through it. Welcome aboard. Carolyn From: Oscar Lopez [mailto:Oscar@transocean.com]

Subject: ATC Form for Oscar Lopez

Hi Carolyn

My name is Niss Lovera, and I am Oscar Lopez replacement here at Trans-Ocea=
n.

I was hoping you could give me some insight as to how Trans-Ocean has handl=
ed employee departures as it relates to medical coverage.

I believe in the past, coverage has been terminated at termination date (or=
at end of month) and COBRA letter has been mailed out. Then if the termina=
ted employee elects COBRA coverage, it is reinstated retro-actively so ther=
e is no gap in coverage.

The other approach that I believe may have been done is to leave the covera=
ge open for 2 months after the employee's termination, giving them time to =
decide if they would like to elect COBRA coverage. At the end of 2 months, =
or prior, if the terminated employee elects COBRA coverage then it is simpl=
y activated, and if it is not elected then the coverage is permanently canc=
elled.

If you could please let me know which approach has been done for previous e=
mployee terminations.

Thank you for your help.
