The Department continues to hear from some businesses in Washoe and Clark Counties that they were not made aware of the Sales Tax rate increases that took effect in those counties on April 1, 2017. In an effort to better inform businesses, and ensure they are collecting the correct rate from their customers going forward, please note the following Sales Tax rate changes that were effective April 1st:

Washoe County

Effective April 1, 2017, the Sales and Use Tax rate for Washoe County increased from 7.725% to 8.265%.

Clark County

Effective April 1, 2017, the Sales and Use Tax rate for Clark County increased from 8.15% to 8.25%.

Those who collect and remit Sales and Use Tax need to make changes to business process as necessary to collect tax at the new rate. Businesses should be sure to file the most recent tax return forms or file through Nevada Tax Center, which is the best option to ensure up-to-date tax rates. Alternately, tax returns can be found on our website at https://tax.nv.gov.
