A London lawyer who admitted to lying to special c= ounsel Robert Mueller's team in November 2017 was ordered Tuesday to 30 day= s in prison, the first sentence imposed since Mueller was appointed nearly = a year ago.

The lawyer, Alex van der Zwaan, pleaded guilty in Februar= y to making false statements when he was interviewed last fall about his ph= one calls and e-mails with a former Trump campaign aide, Richard Gates. The= case does not involve Mueller's central mission of examining Russian elect= ion meddling.
