The FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility ha= s recommended that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who announced = his intention to retire but remains on the payroll, be terminated =E2=80=94= a move that could put the veteran official's pension at risk, according to= officials.

McCabe, who has been attacked by President Donald Trump a= nd other Republicans for alleged anti-Trump bias inside the FBI, is due to = retire this weekend. If Sessions fires him before then, it would place McCa= be's federal pension at risk. McCabe's status is in jeopardy because the De= partment of Justice inspector general concluded he was not fully forthcomin= g in answers about whether he talked to a reporter about the FBI's investig= ation of the Clinton Foundation.
