What do Shark Tank and Peter Drucker have in common? The an= swer is after the short story shown below. But, first, ripped from the head= lines, here's a real-life anecdote that might sound familiar to many of our= readers. Unfortunately, it happened last month.

The Story: The email didn't just seem innocent, it also seemed = familiar to the accounts payable employee at MacEwan University in Edmonton= . It was from one of the local construction firms the public institution de= als with, logo and all. There was new bank account information -could accou= nts payable please change it? Of the course of a few weeks, $C11.8 million = was wired. You can read the entire story here.

Tip: From now on, on= e fraud and $C11.8 million later, such vendor banking information changes w= ill need to go through a second and third level of approval at MacEwan befo= re the final clicks or keystrokes occur. And of course, the request for a c= hange of account should be verified by picking up the phone and calling a k= nown contact at the vendor.
