The IRS issued a press release alerting the taxpaying public to news from the FBI. Reports from the FBI reveal there has been a 1,300 percent increase in identified losses - with more than $3 billion in wire transfers - since January 2015. The FBI found that the culprits behind these scams are national and international organized crime groups who have targeted businesses and organizations in all 50 states and 100 countries worldwide. One of the tricks I learned about 15 years ago from my computer-savvy nephew was to simply replace vowels in a password with special characters. So for example, car might become c@r. I thought this was pretty slick and it made it easy to remember passwords. So, I was greatly disappointed to read that computers can figure out those type of changes pretty quickly. Given the ever expanding services that now require passwords I was not happy when I read that little tidbit. The newest suggestion is to make up a silly sentence and then just use the first letters. So, for example, the green cow drove the orange truck becomes tgcdtot. Now, as long as you can remember the silly sentence, you should be okay. Fraud Surges. The IR= S issued a press release alerting the taxpaying public to news from the FBI= . Reports from the FBI reveal there has been a 1,300 percent increase in id= entified losses - with more than $3 billion in wire transfers - since Janua= ry 2015. The FBI found that the culprits behind these scams are national an= d international organized crime groups who have targeted businesses and org= anizations in all 50 states and 100 countries worldwide.

Strong Passwords. &n= bsp;One of the tricks I learned about 15 years ago from my computer-savvy n= ephew was to simply replace vowels in a password with special characters. S= o for example, car might become c@r. I thought this was pretty slick and it= made it easy to remember passwords. So, I was greatly disappointed to read= that computers can figure out those type of changes pretty quickly.

Given the ever expanding services that now require password= s I was not happy when I read that little tidbit. The newest suggestion is = to make up a silly sentence and then just use the first letters. So, for ex= ample, the green cow drove the orange truck becomes tgcdtot. Now, as long a= s you can remember the silly sentence, you should be okay.
