Many readers will immediately realize I am talking about converting check payments to ACH payments. Now, if you are reading this in a country outside the US, this is not likely to be an issue for you. However, US companies and other organizations that rely heavily on paper checks still have a long way to go on this front. Tip: Rush checks cost companies an exorbitant amount - both in terms of inefficiencies in the process and cost, consider replacing Rush checks with ACH payments. As an added bonus, once a supplier has received a payment electronically and seen how easy it is, they are likely to get on board and sign up for your ACH payment program. In a recent alert, NACHA has informed the public that these incidents are occurring with greater frequency and increased sophistication. If you could redu= ce the:
  • costs associated with making pa= yments,
  • number of items = and dollar amount that had to be reported and remitted as unclaimed propert= y to the various states, and
  • amount of non-value-add work in the accounts payable department
wouldn't you? Man= y readers will immediately realize I am talking about converting check paym= ents to ACH payments. Now, if you are reading this in a country outside the= US, this is not likely to be an issue for you. However, US companies and o= ther organizations that rely heavily on paper checks still have a long way = to go on this front.

= Tip: Rush checks cost companies an exorbitant amount = - both in terms of inefficiencies in the process and cost, consider replaci= ng Rush checks with ACH payments. As an added bonus, once a supplier has re= ceived a payment electronically and seen how easy it is, they are likely to= get on board and sign up for your ACH payment program.

Fraud Alert: AP Now has warned in the past abou= t fraudulent emails purporting to come from NACHA. In a recent alert, NACHA= has informed the public that these incidents are occurring with greater fr= equency and increased sophistication. Remember, NACHA does not process nor = otherwise touch the ACH transactions that flow via the ACH Network nor betw= een financial institutions and their customers.

Perpetrator= s are conducting similar phishing attacks in which they are sending fraudul= ent emails that claim to be from the Federal Reserve Bank, IRS, other feder= al agencies, as well as commercial financial institutions, other payment or= ganizations, technology companies, and businesses.
