If it does not reflect what is actually being done in your department or contains instructions that conflict with regulatory requirements you could have a big problem on your hands. When it comes to the policy and procedures manuals used in organizations everywhere, there seems to be a wide difference in what is used from one place to the next. Some groups are doing a great job on creating and updating there manual while for others, the manual is almost nonexistent. Over the last year or so, I've spoken on this topic about half a dozen times in various venues (both webinars and live sessions) and there seems to be no norm. While not updating the policy might seem = like it couldn't create a problem, unfortunately that is not true. If it do= es not reflect what is actually being done in your department or contains i= nstructions that conflict with regulatory requirements you could have a big= problem on your hands.

When it comes to the policy and procedures m= anuals used in organizations everywhere, there seems to be a wide differenc= e in what is used from one place to the next. Some groups are doing a great= job on creating and updating there manual while for others, the manual is = almost nonexistent. Over the last year or so, I've spoken on this topic abo= ut half a dozen times in various venues (both webinars and live sessions) a= nd there seems to be no norm.

To get a handle on the issues our readers f= ace with their policy and procedures manual (either creating or updating on= e), AP Now is conducting a short poll. It is only three questions and we'll= share the results with all who participate. Take the poll = here.
