Google says it recouped all the funds and Facebook most of it. We've already reported on cases where small not-for-profits were targeted. What this latest story proves is no organization is immune. In this latest round of wire fraud, the target was the organization's master vendor management team. The fraud revolved around an understanding of who the companies did business with and the ongoing explosion business email compromise fraud. Best Practice: Protecting your organization against this type of insidious crime is fairly straightforward. By educating everyone on your staff about the fraud, how it works and what they should be doing to ensure prevention, you've done the lion's share of the work. Yet this doesn't happen enough. We still see too many organizations who continue to stick their heads in the sand thinking it would never happen to them. It is also critical that you change your verification processes for unusual requests. Fortune magazine = broke the news of $100 million payment fraud, where Google and Facebook wer= e the targets. Google says it recouped all the funds and Facebook most of i= t. We've already reported on cases where small not-for-profits were targete= d. What this latest story proves is no organization is immune.

In this latest ro= und of wire fraud, the target was the organization's master vendor manageme= nt team. The fraud revolved around an understanding of who the companies di= d business with and the ongoing explosion business email compromise fraud. =

Best Practice: Protecting your organization aga= inst this type of insidious crime is fairly straightforward. By educating e= veryone on your staff about the fraud, how it works and what they should be= doing to ensure prevention, you've done the lion's share of the work. Yet = this doesn't happen enough. We still see too many organizations who continu= e to stick their heads in the sand thinking it would never happen to them. = It is also critical that you change your verification processes for unusual= requests.
