Safety Requirements of FSMA, and FDA Action Taken in Context of Food Defense
“Food defense” is the effort to protèct the food supply from acts of intentional adulteration and acts of terrorism. After the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) became law, the FDA issued a fìnal rule on “Mitigation Strategies to Protèct Food Against Intentional Adulteration,” which covered facilities to prepare and implement food defense plans. Penalties for violating the FDA’s regulations continue to climb, and with the added cost related to oversights and recalls, food defense has become a key compliance concern for organizations whose food products reach consumers.

Join this session with expert speaker Jason Teliszczak, who will cover food defense and detail what an organization needs to have in place to safely manufacture, package, and/or handle food products. Jason will talk about a broad range of production types, facilities, and the transportation of goods. This session will also highlight the key areas an organization needs to control to ensure that intentional contaminants do not enter its products.
