I started out this past Shabbos at the Project= Inspire Convention. It is hard to put into words the power of sitting with over 1000 Aish part= ners who spent the entire weekend discussing how much they care about thei= r Jewish brothers and sisters. Kudos to Project Inspire CEO=2C Rabbi Chaim Sampson= =2C and founding chairman=2C Stuart Hytman on an amazing program. While it was good to discuss how important it is to engage all Jews=2C it= was even better to see it in action. I went from the PI Convention to vis= it one of our most outstanding branches=2C Aish Mexico. In my mind=2C Ais= h Mexico is an important symbol of Aish HaTorah=E2=80=99s phenomenal endur= ance. Aish Mexico was started just as we lost our founder Rav Noach Weinbe= rg. Instead of failing=2C it has thrived beyond anyone=E2=80=99s wildest i= magination. Aish HaTorah is respected by everyone in the Jewish Community= of Mexico. One of the reasons I came this week to Mexico was because the= Jewish Community came together to honor the indefatigable Aish Mexico bra= nch head=2C Rabbi Arturo Kanner. By all accounts=2C they should be content= but they are not. I traveled to Mexico to view the location of the new second Aish Mexico br= anch that is being built. It will be ready in August and it is absolutely= stunning. Why would the board of Aish Mexico fundraise and work towards b= uilding a second branch? Simply because they believe in the principle of= =E2=80=9CNo Jew Left Behind." Our work at Ai sh is far from over. In the past eighteen months=2C due to= the hard work of Latin America COO=2C Rabbi Meir Rosenberg=2C we have est= ablished three new Spanish speaking branches. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Chaim Le= izorek will move from Jerusalem to Mexico City this summer to head up the= new branch. An update on what ou= r Hasbara Fellows are doing: Northeastern University in Boston: the student government overwhelmingly d= efeated a motion to bring a campus-wide BDS referendum. University of Ill= inois: Hasbara Fellow Hayley Nagelburg is involved in writing up anti-BDS= legislation to bring forward to student government. Dear Aish Fam= ily=2C

What a week this has been. I star= ted out this past Shabbos at the Project Inspire Convention.

It is hard to put into words the power of sitting with over 1000 Aish part= ners who spent the entire weekend discussing how much they care about thei= r Jewish brothers and sisters. If I can sum up the theme of the weekend it= was: "No Jew Left Behind." I was honored to address the g= athering where I shared the vision and values of Aish HaTorah. Kudos to Pr= oject Inspire CEO=2C Rabbi Chaim Sampson=2C and founding chairman=2C Stuar= t Hytman on an amazing program. 

While it was good to discuss how important it i= s to engage all Jews=2C it was even better to see it in action. I went fro= m the PI Convention to visit one of our most outstanding branches=2C Aish= Mexico.  In my mind=2C Aish Mexico is an important symbol of Aish Ha= Torah=E2=80=99s phenomenal endurance. Aish Mexico was started just as we l= ost our founder Rav Noach Weinberg. Instead of failing=2C it has thrived b= eyond anyone=E2=80=99s wildest imagination. Aish HaTorah is respected by e= veryone in the Jewish Community of Mexico. One of the reasons I came this= week to Mexico was because the Jewish Community came together to honor th= e indefatigable Aish Mexico branch head=2C Rabbi Arturo Kanner. By all acc= ounts=2C they should be content but they are not. 

I traveled to Mexico to view the location of the new second Aish Mexico br= anch that is being built. It will be ready in August and it is absolutely= stunning. Why would the board of Aish Mexico fundraise and work towards b= uilding a second branch? Simply because they believe in the principle of= =E2=80=9CNo Jew Left Behind." 


Our work at Aish is far from ov= er. In the past eighteen months=2C due to the hard work of Latin America C= OO=2C Rabbi Meir Rosenberg=2C we have established three new Spanish speaki= ng branches. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Chaim Leizorek will move from Jerusalem t= o Mexico City this summer to head up the new branch. Many thanks to Moises= and Nava Rabinovitz and Sergio and Susy Kershenovich for spearheading the= vision. 

The bottom line is that Aish is growing and expanding. That is good news f= or the Jewish people. If you believe in =E2=80=9CNo Jew Left Behind=E2=80= =9D then please join us as a partner in building a strong Jewish nation. H= ow can you partner? By loving every Jew=2C inviting them into your homes a= nd learning Torah with them. May the Almighty bless us all with the streng= th to continue loving and embracing our fellow Jews.

Convention guests included the extraordinary people who have stepped out o= f their comfort zones and are making a huge difference: Miriam and Elie Li= ebowitz from Toronto who have helped spearhead a thriving Project Inspire= movement in their city; Leba Schwebel from Brooklyn=2C who along with Tzi= ppy Reifer and Michelle Weiss=2C founded the Amatz Initiative which sponso= rs inspiring trips to Israel for school principals; and Robin Meyerson=2C= who was instrumental in creating a Jewish day school in Scottsdale=2C Ari= zona.

The conventioneers were in turn encouraged and inspired by those whose liv= es they helped transform. Tovia and Rachel Factor=2C former Broadway produ= cer and performer respectively=2C shared their amazing personal stori= es of discovery and the impact of the extraordinary families who invited t= hem into their homes=2C shared Shabbosim with them=2C and continue to serv= e as incredible role models and friends. Choking back tears=2C Gene Steven= s=2C a former New York City police officer=2C relayed his personal story o= f growth along with his wife Susan=2C a FIT graduate. Both were compl= etely secular. They visited Israel with J-Inspire and were embraced b= y many in their community. Gene credits their many Shabbos invitations for= making a difference. =E2=80=9CWe called ourselves the Shabbos gypsies. Th= ere is nothing more powerful than the impact of a Shabbos table.=E2=80=9D= Today they teach disconnected and unaffiliated Jews on a weekly basis=2C= while their children learn in yeshiva. 

Lloyd and Edana Desatnick shared the inspiring and =E2=80=9Camazing transf= ormation=E2=80=9D of their family after J-Inspire trips to Israel and conn= ections with Torah partners and families who opened their homes. Just 2 mo= nths ago=2C Llyod and Edana =E2=80=9Cremarried=E2=80=9D halachically at Ai= sh HaTorah in Jerusalem while on Aish=E2=80=99s Couples Destiny Mission. T= his Shabbos=2C convention guests danced in their honor.  

At the closing session=2C Rabbi Steven Burg emphasized the need to take re= sponsibility for our fellow Jews. Rabbi Yitzchok Berkowitz=2C Rosh Ko= llel of the Jerusalem Kollel concluded the uplifting Shabbos weekend. =E2= =80=9CWe have all this excitement. Traditiona= lly spring semester on campus is when anti-Israel activity and BDS ramps u= p. The good news is that our Hasbara Fellows and other pro-Israel students= are working hard to stand up to this hate. An update on what our Hasbara= Fellows are doing:

Northeastern University in Boston: the student gover= nment overwhelmingly defeated a motion to bring a campus-wide BDS referend= um.  University of Illinois:  Hasbara Fell= ow Hayley Nagelburg is involved in writing up anti-BDS legislation to brin= g forward to student government.  Case Western Universit= y: Hasbara Fellow and President of Case Western's student Israel= club=2C Sammie Jacobs=2C is involved in encouraging and preparing pro-Isr= ael students to run for vacant seats in student government to turn the tid= e on the BDS vote. UC Santa Barbara: Hasbara Fellows= Gabby Shofet and Melanie Ross along with other students=2C are hosting Ha= sbara's national "Israel Peace Week" campaign during SJP's annual BDS kick= off "Israel Apartheid Week". Hasbara Fellows at Ryerson Unive= rsity=2C UCLA=2C Florida Atlantic Univer= sity=2C University of Massachusetts and more are= either running for or are involved in their University's student governme= nt to ensure pro-Israel representation BEFORE BDS. 

Last week over 80 campuses hosted Hasbara's "Save A Child's Heart" campaig= n=2C taking a stand against BDS hate by spreading positive sentiment about= Israel. We are proud to partner with Save A Child's Heart Young Leadershi= p=2C led by a Hasbara fellow=2C to set up displays on campuses about Israe= li efforts to save children from around the world.

Last Sunda= y=2C over 20 families joined Aish Detroit to kick off the joyous Purim spi= rit with an epic Hamentashen bake-off. Over 200 s= tudents and staff from 18 university campuses across the UK gathered at th= e Hilton Metropole in Birmingham last week for the annual Genesis Nat= ional Weekend =E2=80=93 the UK=E2=80=99s largest Jewish student event= of the year=2C run by Aish UK.

The weekend included a range of inspiring educational and social activitie= s including talks from top speakers=2C Q&A panels and entertaining per= formances. Over the three days=2C students enjoyed a choice of 40 eng= aging and thought-provoking classes on topics including self-developm= ent=2C Torah and science=2C mindfulness=2C leadership and Jewish medi= cal ethics.
