A Message from the Desk of Rabbi Steven Burg
Dear Aish Family=2C

As I have mentioned many times=2C the crown jewel of Aish HaTorah is our Y=
eshiva (Talmudical Academy). Forty years ago our founder and teacher Rav N=
oach Weinberg=2C of blessed memory=2C founded our Yeshiva on the premise t=
hat every Jew has the right to study Torah. Since that time we have grown=
 tremendously and added many programs.

Our Yeshiva now has a Rabbinical training program=2C an intensive Spanish=
 language track and a post High School gap year program called Aish Gesher=
=2E As amazing as all these programs are=2C I set out to determine whether w=
e are still being successful at our core original mission of teaching youn=
g men from limited Judaic backgrounds.

When I saw the numbers I was shocked. We currently have 74 of these young=
 men enrolled. Not only is this the largest class we have seen in many yea=
rs but it was an increase of 20 students since September!

I immediately started to ask some of the students what made the Yeshiva so=
 successful. Some joked that it was the fine cuisine as well as the five-s=
tar accommodations. Then one of our newest students summed it up beautiful=
ly. He looked at me and said=2C =E2=80=9CIt=E2=80=99s the Rabbis=E2=80=9D.=
 I asked him to explain and he said =E2=80=9CImmediately after meeting the=
 Rabbis I knew that they cared for me as a person and in a very deep way.=
 There was no way I wasn=E2=80=99t sticking around Aish after that.=E2=80=
=9D

Indeed our Rabbis are our =E2=80=9Csecret sauce=E2=80=9D. Led by our Daas=
 Torah (spiritual guide) Rav Yitzchak Berkovits and the Director of the Ye=
shiva Rabbi Dovid Rosman the staff is top notch. Their passion and devotio=
n to the Almighty is infectious. Perhaps most importantly their love and c=
aring for each and every student is unlimited. May we be blessed to contin=
ue the unparalleled growth of our Yeshiva for many years to come.

Aish of Greater Washington Shabbaton with Traveling Chassidim

Last Shabbat=2C Aish of Greater Washington was treated to an inspirational=
 Shabbos of singing=2C dancing and celebrating with the world-renowned Tra=
velling Chassidim. For the fourth consecutive year=2C Aish hosted five fam=
ilies from the Traveling Chassidim=2C a group of Chassidim who bring their=
 vocal and musical talents=2C their warm and non-judgmental personalities=
=2C and their large families to communities all across the world for Shabb=
atons such as these=2C with the sole purpose of inspiring other Jews. From=
 the moving and lively services which they led=2C to the festive meals=2C=
 to the Havdallah concert performance=2C the group won over the hearts of=
 the participants=2C many of which were experiencing a Shabbat for the fir=
st time in their lives. The Shabbaton broke down stereotypes and showed ho=
w Jews from all walks of life can come together and inspire one another an=
d really create a true Kiddush Hashem.
Aish Essex student promotes leadership at Olami Summit

An Essex 24-year-old was a star of the summit meeting in Birmingham organi=
zed by Olami=2C a global forum for young Jews.

The event attracted 1=2C300 delegates from across the world and speakers i=
ncluding Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett and former Chief Rabbi=
 Lord Sacks.

Sacha Johnstone from Clayhall was chosen as one of 12 regional ambassadors=
 and will promote Jewish leadership to students throughout Europe. He will=
 also be involved in a high-profile leadership program in Israel involving=
 top politicians and entrepreneurs.

In his pitch=2C titled =E2=80=9CHow I came out of the closet as a Jew=E2=
=80=9D=2C the Aish Essex representative said he wanted to encourage contem=
poraries to embrace their Judaism.

Close-on 100 Olami delegates were from Aish UK=2C Aish Essex=2C and the Je=
wish Learning Exchange.

Also during the summit=2C $10=2C000 innovation grants were awarded to crea=
tive projects=2C such as one from Argentina which will see a kosher food t=
ruck visit universities attended by Jewish students.

Another highlight was the launch of Yizkereim=2C intended to honor the mem=
ory of Israel=E2=80=99s fallen soldiers through acts of kindness and meani=
ngful engagement with Judaism.

Visitors of the Aish HaTorah Dan Family World Center

San Clemente=2C California is the surfing media capital of the world as we=
ll as a major surfing destination. A local group came on a visit to Israel=
 and plan while here to surf the Mediterranean waves. The view from the Ai=
sh World Center and the Jerusalem sun were a definite highlight.

Luca de Meo=2C the President of the Spanish car manufacturer SEAT=2C came=
 with his family on a private visit to Israel. They came to the Aish World=
 Center Observation Deck and also went down for a private screening in the=
 Hall of Notes. They are pictured outside the Hochstein Entrance before go=
ing to the Kotel.

Yeshivat Ohr David came to the Aish World Center for a private Discovery S=
eminar. Between sessions=2C they went up to the Observation Deck for a gro=
up picture.

The David Project=E2=80=99s Israel Uncovered: Campus Leaders Mission=2C wh=
ich brings Jewish and non-Jewish student leaders to Israel and gives them=
 first-hand experience with Israel=E2=80=99s dynamic and complex society c=
ame for a visit to the Aish World Center. Their nighttime view from the Ob=
servation Deck was very inspirational.

Rabbi Chaim Burg brings another Israel 2.0 group to Israel. These previous=
 visitors to Israel who left wanting more=2C are here now touring and stud=
ying and enjoying Israel once again. Here pictured on the Aish World Cente=
r during their Western Wall Experience Tour.

A Birthright Ezra World Group from Flatbush=2C Queens=2C Monsey and Lakewo=
od came on their last day in Israel to their =E2=80=9Cbest visit in the Ol=
d City=2C=E2=80=9D the Aish World Center. It was a very special way to wra=
p up their ten day stay.

As I have mentioned many times=2C the crown jewel of Aish HaTorah is our Y=
eshiva (Talmudical Academy). Forty years ago our founder and teacher Rav N=

ning program=2C an intensive Spanish language track and a post High School=
 gap year program called Aish Gesher. As amazing as all these programs are=
=2C I set out to determine whether we are still being successful at our co=
re original mission of teaching young men from limited Judaic backgrounds.=
&nbsp;<br>

When I saw the numbers I was shocked. We currently have 74 of these young=
 men enrolled. Not only is this the largest class we have seen in many yea=
rs but it was an increase of 20 students since September!&nbsp;<br>

ur newest students summed it up beautifully. He looked at me and said=2C=
 =E2=80=9CIt=E2=80=99s the Rabbis=E2=80=9D. I asked him to explain and he=
 said =E2=80=9CImmediately after meeting the Rabbis I knew that they cared=
 for me as a person and in a very deep way. There was no way I wasn=E2=80=
=99t sticking around Aish after that.=E2=80=9D&nbsp;<br>

sidim who bring their vocal and musical talents=2C their warm and non-judg=
mental personalities=2C and their large families to communities all across=
 the world for Shabbatons such as these=2C with the sole purpose of inspir=
ing other Jews. From the moving and lively services which they led=2C to t=
he festive meals=2C to the Havdallah concert performance=2C the group won=
 over the hearts of the participants=2C many of which were experiencing a=
 Shabbat for the first time in their lives. The Shabbaton broke down stere=
otypes and showed how Jews from all walks of life can come together and in=
spire one another and really create a true Kiddush Hashem.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nb=
