Message from WBGO President & CEO=2C Amy Niles

This is the time of year when I traditionally send a holiday message about= WBGO=E2=80=99s past year and vision for the future.  Given the event= s of these past few months=2C it feels appropriate to talk about trust and= respect -- especially in the world of public broadcasting. Recent news ab= out media organizations=2C the entertainment industry and another public r= adio organization in our area has rocked all of us.  I know that WBGO= plays an important role in the public media world and in your lives. = ; We are truly appreciative of the trust you have put in us and in your co= ntinued financial support.  I want to assure you that we work hard ev= ery day to deserve that trust.

From when I was named President of WBGO in 2013 to now=2C an important foc= us for me has always been the people who make up this great organization -= - the people you hear on the radio and those behind the scenes who are the= lifeblood of our daily operations.  Last year=2C we began work on a= new strategic plan that was designed to make certain our priorities as th= e leader in jazz journalism and curation remain relevant.  We also wa= nted to make sure that WBGO continued to foster a safe and secure workplac= e and that those values remain at the core of our culture.  While it= is never easy to bring together such a diverse group of talented people= =2C I believe we are succeeding.  We must succeed because I believe p= ublic broadcasting must be a place you can trust.

What you can be certain of is that we will work hard every day and do our= very best to continue to honor the values that earned your trust and supp= ort in the first place.
