We have recently been getting into fights about and splitting of . I generally have continued to split things 50-50 (mortgage payments, HOA, transport, flights, etc.), though I also pay for surprise trips, dates, and certain big ticket items such as our car (in my name) and improvements on our condo (new closet, remodeling, kitchen re-do, etc. - which will be thousands of dollars). my GF feels insecure and as if she has no (we both have large amounts of student s and live in a very expensive city - she has more s than I do) and thinks I should be a greater portion of our shared . she said that she is taking all the risk; if we were to break up tomorrow, she'd have nothing, but if we stay together, I would get the benefit of all of her stock options down the road. I sort of get where she is coming from, and don't want her to feel insecure. I think a lot of her feelings stem towards wanting to feel like I am fully into the relationship (I am) and that I do view our lives as
intertwined (I do), even if we are not married.

That all being said, my initial thoughts though are: as committed to each other as we are, we don't have shared finances yet/are not married, so she is essentially just asking me to give her so she has a personal buffer/to prove my commitment if I do that, then the risk she talks about is borne entirely on me (if we break up in 3 years, she gets the benefit of me supporting her, and her stock options) one of the only reasons I stay in my current job and don't try to find one like hers (which is generally more fun/engaging/fulfilling) is because of the ...if she gets to quit her high job to do something more fun, why should I be penalized for staying at my law firm job? I don't hate my job by any means, but it is stressful and the hours suck, and if not for the I'd for sure be looking for something else.
